Wildebeest Workshop
Portable woodworking carts to support DIY culture

The Wildebeest workshop is a pair of movable workshop wagons designed to facilitate community building projects, travelling workshops, roving men's sheds or wandering art projects. They aim to nurture the DIY community building culture that's alive in parts of Sydney.

Design & Construction

The wagons were designed to be constructed with recycled bits and bobs, to inspire other to build their own and to tell the stories of the streets - filing cabinet from a house clean out in Newtown, a broken boomgate from a Rozelle hospital, benches from an abandoned key factory in Marrickville

Out and About

The Wildebeest Workshop launched at the Powerhouse Museum in 2013, and since then they've roved around helping build art spaces, and installations at festivals, run workshops with Refugee communities to build furniture and community gardens and constructed bee hives for UTS rooftop.
